AD Code means Authorised Dealer Code. It is a unique seven-digit code associated with a bank branch authorised to deal in foreign exchange.
The AD Code connects an exporter’s bank account and foreign-remittance banking relationship with the relevant Customs location. ICEGATE classifies this under the Foreign Remittance Account — Authorised Dealer Code section of its Bank Account Management facility.
An exporter normally obtains an AD Code letter from the bank branch maintaining the applicable export account. The exporter then registers the bank and AD Code details for the relevant Customs location through ICEGATE.
Eligibility
AD Code registration is generally relevant for:
The exact requirement depends on the transaction, Customs location, shipping process and nature of export.
Why it matters
AD Code registration helps Customs identify the bank through which the exporter handles foreign-exchange and export-remittance transactions.
The registration establishes a link between:
ICEGATE’s Bank Account Management manual describes the AD Code account as the declaration of banks used for foreign remittances. The system records the Customs location, bank, AD Code, account number and Customs approval status.
Depending on the nature of the export and applicable Customs process, registration may be relevant for:
The registration does not replace the exporter’s IEC, ICEGATE account or banking arrangements.
Registration Service
Dwarkadhish Overseas assists businesses at different stages of the registration process.
Registration
qAD Code registration is now available through the exporter’s ICEGATE user profile. ICEGATE’s official FAQ states that users can complete online AD Code registration by accessing their user profile.
The Bank Account Management section contains two different account categories:
The ICEGATE application requires the exporter to select a Customs location while adding the foreign-remittance bank account. The approved registration is displayed against the applicable location code.
An exporter operating through multiple Customs locations may therefore need to add or register the bank and AD Code information for each relevant location, depending on the applicable operational requirement.
Examples may include:
The exact Customs location code should be verified before filing.

After filing, the application is reviewed by the relevant Customs authority. We monitor the available status and share the completion, approval, rejection or further-action update.
Pending?
“Customs Pending” generally means that the online application has been submitted but approval from the relevant Customs location is still awaited.
ICEGATE’s current FAQ advises users whose AD Code status shows “Custom Pending” to wait approximately 7–10 working days. This is an indicative portal response and not a guaranteed approval timeline.
A longer delay may occur because of:
Application Rejected
The rejection reason should first be reviewed carefully.
ICEGATE’s FAQ states that where an AD Code application has been rejected by the Customs officer, the user should submit a new application rather than modify the rejected application.
Before submitting again, verify:

Standard professional charges
The displayed amount is the starting professional charge for one standard AD Code registration at one Customs location.
The AD Code FAQ refers to approximately 7 working days where the application remains Customs pending, but the government approval date cannot be guaranteed.
Troubleshooting
The bank letter may omit the IEC, PAN confirmation, branch email, account-holder name or AD Code.
Our approach: We review the letter and provide a correction checklist before filing.
ICEGATE requires the bank letter to confirm that the PAN associated with the account is the same as the PAN associated with the IEC.
Our approach: We first identify where the mismatch is. Based on that, the applicant can contact the bank or DGFT for the required correction.
If the account number entered is incorrect or doesn't match the bank records the application may not be accepted.
Our approach: We go through the bank details carefully before filing to reduce the chances of rejection.
The AD Code mentioned in the application may not match the bank branch or bank letter.
Our approach: The code is verified against the bank-issued document.
The exporter may select the wrong port, terminal, airport or ICD location.
Our approach: We identify the appropriate ICEGATE Customs location before filing.
The required Customs location may not appear because of profile, registration, location-code or portal issues.
Our approach: We review the ICEGATE profile and location requirement before suggesting further action.
A blurred, cropped or unreadable bank letter may not be accepted.
Our approach: We request a clear document in the appropriate format and size.
The Bank Account Management process includes verification of the uploaded proof document and generation or population of an IRN in the application flow.
Our approach: We review the document-upload stage, document type and available portal message.
OTP may be delayed due to wrong mobile or email number, network problems, or portal problems.
Our approach: We validate the contact number and email id and use the facility of resending OTP.
The application has been submitted but not yet accepted or rejected.
Our approach: We check the date of filing, Customs location and application status before recommending follow-up.
The uploaded document or application information may have been found incomplete or inconsistent.
Our approach:We review the rejection reason, correct the issue and assist with a new application.
ICEGATE’s FAQ directs users to the bank-account management modification option when the IFSC changes because of a bank merger.
Our approach: We assess whether the accepted account is eligible for modification and collect updated bank documents.
The ICEGATE manual states that only accounts whose Customs status is reflected as Accepted can be modified through the stated process.
Our approach:We review the account status before choosing modification or a fresh application.
